I took the plunge into this grand blogsphere on August 9, 2010. I started this blog as a journey – my journey as a learner leading to a principal position to empower and inspire all learners in the 21st Century. About two years later and one-hundred posts, I have to admit I have loved the learning and connections this blog has led me to. Along the way I have had amazing experiences with teachers, the interview process, and discovering things about myself. It has not led to the ultimate goal of a principal position, as of yet – but just as the picture above depicts – I know in my heart there is a light in my journey ahead.
Holding on to dreams and being persistent is my nature. Yes, there have been discouragements along the way – but just as many have reminded me – the right position will come along. Until then, learning and growing is the name of the game.
I am extremely thankful for so many that have offered their support and encouragement along the way. Rather than listing them here, I know they know who they are! I can always count on them for continued dialogue about educational leadership, proofreading of application materials, interview practice and advice, and a pick-me-up after rejections. True friends are there for you in good times and challenges. These individuals have stood by me during thick and thin! I don’t know where I would be without them!
Keeping current in the field of education and leadership have been very rejuvenating. The teachers and administrators I work with on a daily basis to the blogs and Twitter feeds of so many great educators are my inspiration. Their passion for student learning and teacher development are just what we need in the world of education! The learning and new ideas to consider implementing never cease to stop!
As we near the end of July the chances of finding an elementary principal position for the coming year (preferably in Iowa) are dwindling. That’s okay. The dream is still there. I will continue preparing, learning and growing. One never knows what is just around the bend. In the mean time, I am looking forward to another year as an instructional coach. The experiences I gain working with teachers and administrators is the perfect training ground for my aspirations. I view my potential role as a principal similar to an instructional coach with a goal of empowering, inspiring and guiding professional learning among teachers in order to accelerate student learning into the 21st century.
If by chance you are interested in reviewing my résumé, references and testimonials they are located under the tabs at the top of my blog. A brochure highlighting experiences and recommendations can be found here.
I can’t thank the readers of this blog enough. While I continue to write for myself, knowing that I have a global audience is humbling. My stats show visitors for all 50 states in the US and 156 countries. Mind boggling! I am looking forward to the next 100 posts and what is head of me on this journey.Categories: Blogging, Change, Leadership, Relationships
